Checking In

Hey friends! So apologies once more. My posting has really lapsed the last few weeks, and again it’s due to a good thing, which is an abundance of freelance projects, but still, I hate to neglect this blog, because it means so much to me.

So I thought I’d just do a quick check-in about life this past week, mostly based off of my iPhone photos 🙂

We enjoyed some beautiful weather over the weekend and tried to take full advantage.

Isn’t this little picnic table the sweetest? It was Ryland’s bday gift from my parents, and she LOVES it. It’s also very useful for messy outdoor projects like finger painting 🙂

Bobby has also been enjoying the weather, clearly.

Our only issue, which I’m sure most of you can relate to, is a crazy abundance of wasps, bees, and hornets. It’s like they exploded with the little burst of spring weather. I try to relax and enjoy our time outside, but I have to admit a part of me is on constant vigilance waiting for one of these little menaces to sting a baby. Luckily we’ve all survived unscathed so far.

Our other fun activity this week was a music class at Ryland’s preschool on Wednesday. One of my best friends has been recommending it for months, and I foolishly only went for the first time this week. Ryland LOVED it. Like, could not have been more in her element. I do not know where this bold, fearless, extroverted child comes from, but she hears a jam come on and just has to move her body to the music. It was really fun and hilarious to watch.

We’ve also discovered the joys of Despicable Me (thanks to Netflix which has Despicable Me 3!) this week so have done our fair share of big bed snuggling and Minion watching. I caught these sweet little shots of Bobby during one such snuggle session.

R is off the rest of the week so hopefully I’ll have some more exciting things to report. Until then here are a couple of shameless plugs to where my writing has popped up in the last few days. The Scary Mommy piece has been fun, because it clearly touched a nerve (mostly of people saying they’ve experienced the same, only a few meanies luckily, and awesomely most of the mean comments have been met by people defending me or the article, which thanks and I love you awesome superhero strangers ! :)) and it’s gotten way more attention than my previous pieces on that site.

Anyhoo, here they are and happy Thursday!
